****I have been journaling almost all of my travels since graduating college in 2003. In 2019, I decided to make them digital! I'm happy to share our adventures with you, but keep in mind they are actually for me and my family!****BRUNSWICK, OHIO
On our way home from New York, we passed through northern Ohio. Mom mentioned that her dad is buried close to the area we were passing through. I was excited to see my grandfather's gravesite because I was three years old when he passed from lung cancer. My memory of him is running into the home they lived in and hopping on his lap. He always had a half dollar to give us when we visited.
His name is engraved on a plaque memorializing America's veterans who are buried at this cemetery. You can see mom pointing to it above. Take the first entrance into the cemetery and go all the way down past this memorial on the right side. His grave is at the corner of the next intersection, on the right. His brother is directly to his right and his mother is in the row above him.
Guess what else we were able to see? Mom's childhood home at ADDRESS. The maple trees that her dad planted are now HUGE! If all three of us tried to hug the tree, there is no way that our hands would even touch. These trees were planted in the early 60s when she was a young girl. She said her elementary school was about a mile away and she would walk to school. Well, 14 houses away to be exact....it always seems further as a child!
We also played at her elementary school playground. She said that they would open the school on Saturday mornings for a movie in the gymnasium. Isn't this a cool idea?
